Be in this moment, let it make me anew,
Let it lure-push me into the unknown, Know the now by taking it all in, last drop, Get the drop on those whits more than mine, Fathom beyond my own mutter suffering, Tomorrow looks back through a misty lens, Hindsight too often sights my own backside, Let the held-back-harmed wash off the veil, Hear the poor, the prisoner, the angry and mute, See the hopeless, hapless, homeless and ghost, Feel the race hate, the gun shot, the jack boot, Say this, need this, be this, I’m a tool of the future that wants to be,* Life generating, fecund, green, moist, windblown, Flicker-eyed unknown brilliance of change, Sow the seed of discontent’s blessed yearning, Plow the weeds under to nurture the tender new, Finding shape, breathily transmuting the waste of our smoky spoiled fragile air-skin quandary, Golem-like forge the means from what is at hand, Harvest cabbage heads, melon balls, tree limbs, Back bone of celery and just do the damn work. I have no platform, rather chop down old designs to construct a new foundation, tenon mortise strong, Equality, Equity, Liberation * from Marge Piercy’s, He, She and It |
